Taboo Benzocaine


Benzocaine is a drug that has been developed to reduce pain in a manner of anesthesia. It is used in topical applications (directly on the skin) for temporary relief of skin irritations areas, including the throat, gums, anus and vagina. It can also be used to treat middle ear irritation that may occur following infection. There are several manufactures of pain relief that contain varying levels of benzocaine.

The use of any product that contains drug that alters the biological balance in the body of a pregnant woman, including hormone therapy, dietary supplements and drugs against pain, should be discussed with a qualified medical professional. Although benzocaine showed no conclusive evidence to be harmful during pregnancy, side effects allowed to misuse may be considered sufficient cause for prudent use of this device. Some of the most common side effects of benzocaine include itching, redness or inflammation around the area where the ointment was applied, increased sweating or burning in the region. More serious side effects include difficulty breathing, increased or decreased heart rate, nausea, dizziness, rashes, hives or swelling. If any of these symptoms occurs, stop using benzocaine immediately and consult your doctor.
